Bloggers, marketers even big brands and companies know the importance and benefits of a good social media campaign or marketing. It requires a significant amount of time, effort and even money. Plus the introduction of new social networks make it even more overwhelming and complicated.

Quality over quantity. Spending a massive amount of time on social media doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be successful. Many social media users spend a lot of time online but don’t have any goals or strategies so the time and effort spent are wasted on useless activities. To have a successful social media strategy, you not only have to work hard but also smarter. For an average user, it only takes about 30 minutes a day to make an impact on social media.

Marketing automation provider, Pardot has put together this very useful and informative infographic that can help you determine which social media tasks are important and how much time you need to spend on each social network/tasks.

30 minute social media

This is just a guideline, as each person will most certainly require a different strategy. The important thing to keep in mind here is to learn how to identify the key channels, make a schedule and plan the tasks that you need to do. Making the right plans will not only help you save time but also help me you become more effective.

I found this infographic to be very useful because I’m guilty of this. To be honest, I don’t have a solid or specific social media strategy that’s why I have the tendency to be sporadic in my social media activities. There are days when I’m active on Google+, other days on Twitter and sometimes on Facebook. Even if I regularly post updates and monitor my social channels, the majority of the time spent online are “wasted” because there’s no specific goal or strategy. I hope that by sharing this information, it would also help you with your current social media strategy or make you have one just like I did.

How much time do you spend each day promoting your stuff on social media? Are you spending your time wisely? Do you have a social media strategy? Please share your thoughts thru the comments section below.
